The BNJARS-L E-mail list is for members
only. Members are automatically added to the list when they send
in an application. Requests from non-members to join the list will
not be honored.

This page will help everyone to deal with the most
common problems that arise with an e-mail discussion list.
If you have a question about the list that is not found on this
page, you can contact the list administrator for information.
Why
have an e-mail discussion list?
The purpose of this group is to keep everyone up-to-date
on club activities, meeting notices, problems, etc. The
list is restricted to members of the Battleship New Jersey Amateur Radio
Station (BNJARS). For this reason, only the list moderator
can subscribe or unsubscribe members to the list. This will keep
out any spam messages.
The club membership is growing daily and this is
the best method we have at this time to keep everyone informed. We
realize that some members don't have an e-mail address and we will work
on that issue in the near future.

QUESTIONS
What
e-mail address is used for the list?
Members are subscribed to
the list with the e-mail address they gave when they joined BNJARS.
However, if your e-mail address is an alias that is forwarded to your regular
e-mail address, you will receive all the messages but you will have problems
sending to and/or replying to messages to the list. The reason for
this is security - a precaution to prevent someone else from trying to
use your alias address to send posts to a list.
Example – wa2tvs@arrl.net
is subscribed to the list but messages to this alieas are forwarded to
his regular e-mail address of freddie@cybercomm.net. He will receive
messages, but if he tries to respond or send a message, it will be coming
from his home e-mail, not from his alias. Therefore, the list will
not recognize him as a subscriber and it won't accept the message from
him.
For this reason, if you are
now subscribed with an alias, you must send a note to the list moderator
(see top of page)
to unsubscribe your alias and re-subscribe you with your real e-mail address.
Then you will be able to receive, send messages to the list.

QUESTIONS
How
do I change the address to which I am subscribed?
If you need to have your
e-mail address changed, contact the list moderator (see
top of page).
BACK TO
QUESTIONS
How
do I send a message to everyone on the list?
To post a message to the
list just send it to the e-mail adderss that was included in your welcome
messge and everyone on the list will receive the message.
You can add it to your address book so you don't have to retype it each
time you need to send a message. Only members can post messages, all others
will be rejected.
NOTE: It
is a good idea to include your e-mail address with your name at the end
of any message you send to the list. By default, all replies to list messages
go back to the sender of the message - not to the list.
BACK TO
QUESTIONS
How
do I reply to a message?
To reply to a message just use the "Reply-To"
button on your mailing program. By default, all reply-to messages
will go back to the sender - not to the list. If you want to send
a message to the whole list please use the e-mail address included in your
welcome message.
NOTE: Please
do not "Reply to All" (or use CC: to the list) as this makes
a copy of your reply go to the list as well as the poster of the message.
The list is set up so that a "Reply To" goes only to the poster
of the message. This is very important as some members have a quota on
their mail servers and we don't want to send unneccesary mail to them!
BACK TO
QUESTIONS
Can
I send personal messages to the list?
Personal messages between members should not be
sent to the list for everyone to read. The list is meant for discussion
and notices of group activity, updates and discussions that are of interest
to the whole group.
BACK TO
QUESTIONS
How
do I unsubscribe from the list?
To unsubscribe from the list, send a message to
the list moderator asking to be removed (see
top of page).
