Directions to the Ship Location - The New Jersey's pier is located behind the Tweeter Center (signs may still say "E-Center") at the Camden, NJ, waterfront. If you follow the signs to the Tweeter/E-Center, you'll be close to the new pier. Parking - Volunteers may park in the Camden Parking Garage for free by showing their badge (follow directions at right, and watch for Battleship Parking signs). When the Tweeter Center has a large concert, parking may be difficult. Note that the garage closes at 8pm after which time you may not remove your vehicle. "River Line" Light Rail Train - is now in operation. The last stop in Camden drops you off right at the Battleship. Service runs from Trenton to Camden. GPS Coordinates: N 39° 56' 21.7", W 75° 07' 59.0" Talk-In: Camden 146.82/22 machine (PL 131.8)

DIRECTIONS:
From I-676, get off at the Martin Luther King Blvd/Mickle Blvd exit (next-to-last exit going north). Come down the exit ramp keeping to the right until it drops you off onto Martin Luther King Blvd/Mickle Blvd at Cooper Hospital. Follow directions below. From Martin Luther King Blvd/Mickle Blvd, continue towards the river to the end, up the ramp, then turn right at the circle. Go past the aquarium then turn right. At light (foot of hill), turn right. Garage entrance is on either side. For handicap parking, proceed up the ramp, go 3/4 way around the circle, and go down the Marina Parking entrance road. Use handicap parking spots in the Marina Lot only (non-handicap spots are 25¢ per 20 minutes). For alternate route, turn right off Martin Luther King Blvd/Mickle Blvd onto 3rd Street (just before ramp at end of Martin Luther King Blvd/Mickle). Go one block to Federal Street and make a left (YMCA at corner). Follow alternate route, below. The new pier is just south of the marina behind the Tweeter Center. Alternate Route: Take Federal Street past the L-3 campus to the light (Delaware Ave). Turn left onto Delaware Ave. Enter parking garage on either side. For handicap parking, go through the light up the hill, where the road bends to the left in front of the Aquarium. Follow to the Wiggins Circle, and go half-way around the circle to the Marina parking entrance. Handicap parking at bottom of hill. From Admiral Wilson Blvd (Rt. 30), exit at Linden Street (marked "Last Exit Before Toll, Camden Business District, Rutgers, and E-Center"). After exiting onto Linden Street, make a left at the second light (including the flashing yellow) onto North 10th Street. Cross over the 10th Street Bridge to the light (Market Street) and turn right onto Market. Take Market to 3rd street and turn left. Go two blocks to Martin Luther King Blvd/Mickle Blvd and follow directions above, or one block to Federal Street, and follow Alternate Route above. From Ben Franklin Bridge (coming from Center City), exit just past toll booths towards Camden Business District (right hand turn, so stay in right lane on bridge). Take side street one block to Cooper Street. Take Cooper Street to 3rd Street. Turn left on 3rd street. Go two blocks to Martin luther King Blvd/Mickle Blvd and follow directions above, or one block to Federal Street, and follow Alternate Route above. From High Speed Line (for walkers/bikers) - get off at the Rand Center in Camden. From here it's about an 8-9 block walk. Follow Martin Luther King Blvd/Mickle Blvd towards the river, but go all the way to the end (up the ramp) to the circle at the end. At the circle (next to Aquarium), walk down the hill to your left to the Tweeter Center and marina. The pier is just past the marina. Starting 14 March 2004, the River Line South Jersey Light Rail service connects from the Rand Center to the Battleship (last stop on the line). |
